Vicens Prats reside en París y es Primer Flauta Solista de la prestigiosa Orquesta de París desde 1991, lo que le ha permitido colaborar con directores como Georg Solti, Carlo Mª Giulini, Pierre Boulez, Lorin Maazel, James Conlon -con quien interpretó el concierto de J.Ibert en la Sala Pleyel-, Kurt Sanderling, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Daniel Barenboim, Franz Brüggen, Cristoph von Dohnányi, E. P. Salonen, Seiji Ozawa, etc.
También es frecuentemente profesor invitado de la Joven Orquesta Nacional de España y de la Jove Orquestra Sinfònica de Catalunya.
Paralelamente a su actividad orquestal, Vicens Prats desarrolla una gran labor camerística (es fundador y miembro de varios grupos con los que es asiduamente invitado a tocar en numerosos países) y pedagógica, impartiendo regularmente cursos y « masterclasses » por toda España, Japón, Italia, Croacia, Francia, Portugal, etc.
Prats fue el primer flautista español en entrar en el Conservatorio Nacional Superior de Música de París y en obtener allí el Primer Premio por unanimidad (en flauta y música de cámara), teniendo como profesores a Michel Debost, Jean Pierre Rampal y Christian Lardé. Tras ser galardonado en los Concursos Internacionales de Kobe (Japón) y Barcelona, inicia una exitosa carrera de concertista que le ha llevado a actuar por todo el mundo al frente de formaciones del más alto nivel, como la Orquesta Franz Liszt de Budapest, Orquesta de París, Solistas de Zagreb, Orquesta de Cámara de Toulouse, Orquesta Nacional del Capitolio de Toulouse - de la que fuera Primer Solista durante cuatro años -, Orquesta de Cámara de l’Empordà, The Guildhall Strings Ensemble, etc. Vicens Prats ha sido investido Chevalier Des Arts et des Lettres de la Republique Française.
Estudioso de la obra de Oliver Messiaen a partir de su afición a la ornitología; es criador de pájaros cantores con los cuales ha ganado varios concursos internacionales.

VICENS PRATS, Flute Born in Catalonia (Spain), Vicens Prats lives in Paris where he has been the principal solo flautist in the Orchestre de Paris under the musical direction of Christoph Eschenbach since 1991 and has worked with eminent conductors such as Sir Georg Solti, Carlo-Maria Giulini, Pierre Boulez, Lorin Maazel, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Bernard Haitink, Frans Brüggen, Daniel Barenboim, Seiji Ozawa, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Sakari Oramo, Kurt Sanderling and James Conlon – particularly in Jacques lbert’s concerto for flute at the Salle Pleyel and Mozart’s flute concerto at the Théatre des Champs Elysées with Wolfgang Sawallisch, etc.He is a permanent member of the Super World Orchestra. 
Prats was the first Spanish flautist to be admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (the National Superior Conservatory of Paris for Music) where he studied under Michel Debost, Jean-Pierre RampaI, Alain Marion and Christian Lardé, and was unanimously awarded the Premier Prix in flute and chamber music. He is a winner of the (Kobe International Flute Competition in Japan) and the Concurs Internacional d'Execució Musical Maria Canals de Barcelona (Maria Canals de Barcelona International Competition for Musical Performance). In addition he has also played in prestigious ensembles including the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse - where he was solo flautist over 4 years - , the Liszt Ferenc Kamarazenekar (Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra) of Budapest, the Orkiestra Kameralna Polskiego (Polish Chamber Orchestra), the Guildhall String Ensemble, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (Galician Symphony Orchestra), the Zagrebacki Solisti (Zagreb Soloists), the Orquestra de Cambra de l’Empordà (Empordà Chamber Orchestra), Bayerischer Rundfunk (the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation) under the musical direction of Maris Jansons and the Arturo Toscanini Orchestra. In addition to his orchestral activities, a major part of Prats’ work is to boost the influence and popularity of chamber music as a founder/member of different groups with whom he is regularly invited to play abroad. He provides an important source of educational support by frequently holding advanced training courses in different countries such as Japan, Italy, Portugal, France and Croatia, etc. At the same time he is a visiting professor at the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (Jonde - Spain’s national youth orchestra) and the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Catalunya (Josc - Catalonia’s youth symphony orchestra). Furthermore, Prats has shown himself to be an excellent host and presenter in a series of concerts held specially for young people and families. He has been a professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC - Catalonia’s higher school of music) in Barcelona since it was first founded in 2001. He is the founder and director of the Orquestra de Flautes de Barcelona (Barcelona Flute Orchestra).
